Features of Santa Ana

Santa Ana: Santa Ana is the most populous city in Orange County, is home to an estimated 339,555 residents, and is the 53rd most populated city in the country. The density of the city is only outmatched by New York, San Francisco, and Chicago. The city was founded in 1869 on the Santa Ana River and is located 10 miles away from the coast. Besides its many residents, Santa Ana is also home to the Old Orange County Courthouse, the Bowers Museum, the Galaxy Theatre, and just north of the city is both the Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm Amusement Parks. The geography of Santa Ana is mostly flat, positioned on low changing plains, allowing for minimal elevation change. The downtown area is the center of the city, both residential and retail structures. Downtown is also home to the Ronald Regan Federal Building and Courthouse. Homes dating back to the 1800’s can be found nestled in downtown and their preservation is a hot topic as the city continues to develop. Santa Ana is also famous for the winds that are named after them. Warm winds carry through southern California and usually are responsible for fueling the all too common wildfires experienced by residents. These wildfires have resulted in billions of dollars in damage and loss of homes for many families in the Santa Ana and Orange County areas.
